The Mohawk, a popular bar and music venue, has been in its location at 912 Red River for 11 years, which is an eternity in the constantly-changing landscape of downtown Austin, Texas. As out-of-town corporate interests took notice of the rundown, but well-loved, music venues on Red River, The Mohawk took up the torch of keeping the businesses in local hands. "Defend Red River" became the rallying cry of the dozens of locally-owned concert halls and bars. I collaborated with The Mohawk to create this simple, to-the-point shirt that is sold at several Red River establishments.
This ad, ran weekly in The Austin Chronicle, obviously stands out from the others surrounding it. I chose to not clutter it with photos and jam-pack it with too much information. The layout is clear and the message is inviting, just like The Mohawk.
